WHEN SOMEBODY LOVES YOU. . .
This week while I was organizing Lance's closet I ran across my favorite stuffed animals from when I was a little girl.
Now keep in mind that I went everywhere with the Pound Puppy. I never left home for the weekend without him, his name was Puppy (original, I know).
I got this Pound Puppy when I was five and have packed him along everywhere we have moved, much to Daniel's dismay. The poor thing is hammered. I used to love to wash him in a pillowcase when he would get dirty. I loved they way he felt when he was clean. One day, just like all the other times, I put him in a pillowcase and put him in the washing machine and dryer. I was flabberghasted when I opened the pillowcase to get him out and there were little brown pieces of fur all over the inside of the pillowcase. Needless to say, that was the last time he was washed. And yes that is the stuffing you can see through his back, isn't that sad?
I finally decided to take a picture of these childhood "friends" and let them be on their way. I gave most to charity but Puppy was to thrashed so I gently placed him in the garbage can. All I could think about was the song from Toy Story 2 when Jessie is telling about when her owner grew up and didn't want to play with her anymore and how she wished things could go back to the way they were. Rediculous, I know. I almost went and took him out of the trash a couple times, but I was strong. It is hard to let go of a piece of your childhood.
When She Loved Me
When somebody loved me,
Everything was beautiful
Every hour we spent together lives within my heart
And when she was sad,
I was there to dry her tears
And when she was happy,
So was I
When she loved me
Through the summer and the fall
We had each other, that was all
Just she and I together, Like it was meant to be
And when she was lonely,
I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me
So the years went byI stayed the same
But she began to drift away
I was left alone
Still I waited for the day
When she'd say
I will always love you
Lonely and forgotten,
I'd never thought she'd look my way
And she smiled at me and held me just like she used to do
Like she loved me
When she loved me
When somebody loved me
Everything was beautiful
Every hour we spent together lives within my heart
When she loved me

I can remember all of these stuffed animals! I'm impressed you got rid of them. Mine still sit at home in Price, except for my blankie (which sadly to say still occupies a corner of my bed each night).
it's amazing that you are making me all gooey and sentimental over a pound puppy.
so sad to say goodbye!
I am actually tearing up over this...perhaps it's because I know all too well the love of a stuffed animal. We said bye-bye to Dylan's bear bear (stupid Knott's Berry Farm) and it was very tragic. At least you got many, many, many, many, many, many,(well you get the idea) wonderful years of your puppy.
23 years to be exact.
I loved that you posted that song. It's funny since that song plays in my head nearly every day anyway since Sebastian watches Toy Story 2 all the time. I had the small pound puppies, and I loved them. I'm proud of you for being strong! Sorry I didn't come to project day today...it looks like you got a lot done without me there!
